The VSL — The Vessel — is a name that holds three meanings simultaneously, and all three are true at once. The body is a sacred vessel. The space we inhabit is a vessel. And the beautiful objects of the past — apothecary bottles, alchemical instruments, antique curiosities — are vessels full of sacred treasures.
We are an apothecary and parlour located in Monroe, Washington — a physical space that brings the ancestral past into the present. We are a retail shop, a perfumery, a cabinet of curiosities, and a private membership association. We are a place where the old ways are honored, where clean living is practiced, and where the wisdom of our ancestors is made accessible to those who seek it.
We opened because we believe that something essential has been lost in the modern world — a connection to the earth, to the body, to the knowledge of plants and resins and the natural world that sustained human life for millennia. The VSL is our answer to that loss.
The Foundation
The VSL begins with the body — the original sacred vessel. We are each a vessel for consciousness, for ancestral memory, for the vital force that animates life. To care for the body is to honor the vessel. This is the root of everything we do.
A space holds energy. The rooms we inhabit, the objects we surround ourselves with, the scents that fill the air — these shape the quality of life lived within them. We curate spaces, objects, and atmospheres that serve as vessels for beauty, intention, and ancestral wisdom.
The beautiful vessels of the past — apothecary bottles, alchemical flasks, brass instruments, wooden cabinets — are not merely antiques. They are physical carriers of ancestral knowledge, of the craft and care of those who came before. We seek them out, preserve them, and bring them forward.
The Public Face
The public-facing side of The VSL is a carefully curated retail experience. We carry antiques and curiosities from the Victorian era and beyond — objects that carry history in their weight and patina. We carry antiquatech: the functional instruments of the ancestral past, brought into the present for those who wish to use them.
We are also a perfumery. We compose natural fragrances using only the finest aromatic materials — resins, absolutes, woods, and animalics — sourced from the most ethical suppliers worldwide. We will offer individual fragrance oils so that you may compose your own accord under our guidance.
And we carry a select range of boutique wellness and clean living products — ancestral formulations, organic preparations, and the tools of a life lived closer to the earth.
The Private Sanctum
Behind the shop is The Parlour — a Private Membership Association that operates in the private domain. Membership is by application and invitation. The Parlour is where the deeper work happens.
Within The Parlour, members have access to our full apothecary — herbal preparations, alchemical offerings, and botanical formulations that go beyond what is available in the public shop. Members also have access to our wellness consulting services: educational consultations around clean living, ancestral health practices, and the emerging science of peptides and research compounds.
The Private Membership Association structure exists to protect both the practitioner and the member. It allows us to share knowledge, experience, and guidance in areas where conventional medicine has limitations — not because we are practicing medicine, but because we are educating, consulting, and sharing ancestral wisdom within a private association of consenting adults.
We work alongside physicians and healthcare providers who refer members to us precisely because we can offer care in areas where they cannot, due to the constraints of licensure and the conventional medical system.
